Find out what rights you have as a volunteer

As a volunteer, you have the following rights:
  • right to a written certificate of volunteering
  • right to enter into a volunteering contract in writing, if you so request
  • right to get acquainted with the code of ethics and ethical standards relevant to a particular form of volunteering
  • right to appropriate training in order to improve the quality of activities performed and services provided, especially if this is required by the nature of volunteering activities and services provided
  • right to professional assistance and support during volunteering
  • right to get acquainted with the conditions of volunteering, activities you will be performing, services you will be providing, and rights that you have under the law and other regulations as well as general acts of the volunteer organiser; and in case of entering into an oral contract, you are required to give a written statement thereof
  • right to reimbursement of agreed expenses incurred in connection with volunteering
  • right to appropriate and safe working conditions in accordance with the nature of the volunteering activities you are performing
  • right to protective equipment in accordance with the nature of the volunteering activities you are performing and the services you are providing
  • right to get acquainted with the dangers associated with the specific form of volunteering you are carrying out
  • right to a daily rest of an agreed duration
  • right to privacy and personal data protection
  • right to participate in decision-making processes regarding the matters related to volunteering in accordance with the capabilities of the volunteer organiser and the form of volunteering
  • as regards volunteering abroad or receiving volunteers from abroad, right to reimbursement of agreed expenses by the organiser, and right to a transparent visa procedure
  • right to a detailed description of the volunteering tasks and activities
  • right to gain new knowledge, skills and competences through volunteering
  • right to recognition of skills, competences and experience gained through volunteering
  • in cases of long-term volunteering, right to a certificate of competences gained through volunteering, if you so request.
